Upper School Physics & Math Teacher
Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a full-time Upper School Physics and upper levels of Math Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in curriculum design and knowledge of the latest trends in pedagogy and assessment methods. Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a Variety of Courses: Selected AP Physics Courses, Honors Physics, and Honors Multivariable Calculus.
- Facilitate Hands-On Learning: Provide engaging and interactive classroom and laboratory experiences that reinforce core scientific and mathematical concepts.
- Offer Individualized Support: Dedicate time outside of class to meet with students individually, providing guidance, clarification, and additional assistance as needed.
- Serve as Advisor: Act as an advisor to a cohort of 8-10 Upper School students, offering mentorship and support in both academic and personal growth.
- Contribute to Extracurricular Life: Enrich the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, such as supporting House events, sponsoring a club, or engaging in other campus initiatives.
- Collaborate with Colleagues: Participate actively in faculty committees, meetings, and professional development opportunities, contributing your insights and expertise to the school community.
Minimum Requirements:
- Educational Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Integrated Mathematics Education, Integrated Science Education, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in scientific and mathematical thinking.
- Certification: Possess or be qualified and willing to obtain training to teach AP courses (paid for by LRA).
- Commitment to Professional Growth: Demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing professional development, staying current with the latest trends and best practices in Science and Mathematics education.
- Teaching Experience: Have experience teaching Science and/or Mathematics at the Upper School level, including conducting interactive activities to enhance student learning.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree: Hold a Master’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Integrated Mathematics Education, Integrated Science Education, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in scientific and mathematical thinking.
- Teaching Experience: Bring 3-5 years of teaching experience in an Upper School setting, preferably within independent schools, with a proven track record of success.
- AP Experience: Demonstrate experience teaching AP courses, preparing students for rigorous examinations and academic success.
- Athletic Engagement: Possess experience and interest in coaching athletics at the Upper School or Middle School level, contributing to the holistic development of students.
