Varsity Girl Volleyball Coach

Lake Ridge Academy is seeking a Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach. The Head Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing all aspects of the Upper School girls' volleyball program. The coach will promote competitive excellence, student-athlete development, sportsmanship, and alignment with the core values of Lake Ridge Academy and the Athletic Department.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Program Leadership
  • Plan, organize, and administer all aspects of the varsity volleyball program
  • Develop a clear vision and culture for the program focused on effort, discipline, teamwork, and accountability
  • Ensure alignment between varsity, junior varsity, and middle school volleyball programs
Coaching & Player Development:
  • Plan and conduct organized practices that emphasize skill development, conditioning, strategy, and teamwork
  • Teach fundamental and advanced volleyball techniques
  • Develop athletes both individually and as a team to compete at the highest possible level
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback
Game Management:
  • Prepare the team for competition through scouting, film review, and practice planning
  • Manage in-game strategy, substitutions, and adjustments
  • Model sportsmanship and professionalism during competitions
Student-Athlete Development:
  • Promote leadership, character, and personal responsibility
  • Encourage academic success and monitor athlete eligibility
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture
Program Administration:
  • Coordinate practice schedules and game preparation
  • Maintain equipment and uniforms
  • Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director regarding program needs
  • Assist with scheduling non-league contests when requested
Communication:
Maintain strong communication with:
  • Players
  • Parents
  • Athletic Department
  • School Administration
  • Clearly communicates team expectations, schedules, and program standards
Staff Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with JV and middle school coaches to develop consistent systems and terminology
  • Mentor assistant coaches when applicable
Off-Season Development:
  • Encourage participation in off-season strength training and skill development opportunities
  • Support summer camps, clinics, and open gym opportunities
Compliance & Safety:
  • Follow all school policies and league/state athletic association rules
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes
  • Maintain required certifications (CPR, First Aid, concussion training, etc.)
Qualifications:
  • Previous volleyball coaching or playing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to teach volleyball fundamentals and strategies
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to positively mentor and motivate high school student-athletes
  • Completion of all school and state coaching certification requirements
Time Commitment:
  • Preseason preparation and meetings
  • Daily practices during the season
  • All scheduled games and tournaments
  • Program meetings and athletic department responsibilities
  • Off-season program support
